I am pleased to announce a new collaboration. My roommate Jacob Fenwick is developing a code for translating motion tracking gestures with the Xbox Kinect infrared camera system in to MIDI continuous controller messages. I am producing sequences within Ableton Live that receive and translate the MIDI data in to interactive live electronic music.

In the demonstration above (Dubstep Wobbles with the Xbox Kinect video on youtube), we have set the Y-axis of the user’s right hand to control the LFO modulation rate on a synth filter to achieve a “wobble” rhythm effect.
